She received a bachelor of arts degree in English from Duke University, where she first heard God’s call into pastoral ministry. In 1993 she enrolled at Candler School of Theology at Emory University and graduated in 1996 with a master of divinity degree. She was ordained an elder in the UMC in 1998. Matt Kelley grew up at Christ UMC, so his family is thrilled to have came back home! Matt Kelley has been newly appointed to the staff. He attended Butler University, Vanderbilt Divinity School and is currently working on his Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Interpretation and Proclamation at Candler School of Theology. For the last sixteen years I have served local churches in Indiana and Tennessee. His wife, Jessica, is an editor for Westminster John Knox Press, and has three kids. Kate is 6, Claire is 3, and #3 will make his debut in October.
Rev. Mark Price, Minister of Spiritual Formation
As a Christian educator and pastor, Rev. Mark Price has spent most of the last 25 years teaching and studying the Bible within the context of congregational ministry. He received a bachelor of arts degree in English from UNC-Greensboro and a master of divinity from Southern Seminary. He has served various sized churches in Georgia, Kentucky, Virginia, and most recently here in Tennessee. Presently Mark is serving Christ UMC as Minister for Spiritual Formation and Facilities Manager. From 1999-2009, Mark worked for the United Methodist Publishing House as part of the editorial team responsible for the DISCIPLE Bible study program. All of Mark’s work and ministry is shaped and supported by his family–his wife, Marne’, and his two children, Kathryn and Chris (attends college at the University of Tennessee). In addition to his work on staff, Mark is a moonlighting calligrapher, an occasional pirate for hire, and Franklin’s town Scrooge. He loves a roaring fire, a robust cup of coffee, a good book, scary movies, classical music, racquetball, college basketball, and breakfast anytime at the Waffle House.
Rev. Paul Bonner, Youth Minister
Paul loves the LORD, his family, and working with teenagers. Paul has a passion to help young people grow in their faith and discover God’s will for their lives. As Youth Minister at Christ United Methodist Church, he ministers to 7th- 12th graders and their families by deepening their relationship with God through creative programming, studying the Bible and connecting them in service to God in the world. He follows a calling to connect the church and the world, so mission and outreach are a big part of Paul’s passion for young people and the entire church. No, he doesn’t preach, except with his life. Paul says his passion is to help teens grow in their faith and experience God in deeper ways. “My heart is for those on the outside or the margins of a group.”
Paul joined the Christ UMC staff in July 2004 after serving as a youth minister for four years at Brentwood United Methodist Church. Before discerning his call into ordained ministry, Paul earned a bachelor degree in business management from Middle Tennessee State University. In May 2004, he finished his master of theological studies degree at Vanderbilt Divinity School. Paul was commissioned as a probationary deacon in 2004 and ordained in 2007.
Paul was fortunate to meet his wife Amy on a retreat for those interested in ministry. They married in February 2002 and welcomed their first child, Isaac Edward Bonner, on December 2, 2007. If he’s not spending time with his wife, Amy and their son, Isaac, he can be found here at church (or at a local disc [Frisbee] golf course). Paul also enjoys music and playing percussion, racquetball, landscaping, finding new ways to shave time off his household chores, and saving money (because he’s super cheap).

They live in the middle of nowhere in southern Williamson County with lots of trees, but like visiting civilization from time to time.
