We Are About Relationships
Children and Worship
Children’s Worship is offered during both morning worship services for children ages three through first grade. Children leave the worship service following the Children’s Message and go to the Children’s Chapel downstairs in room 121 to continue in worship in a service specially designed for them. Our worship time is child-directed, experiential and guided by the liturgical calendar. Nursery care is provided for children ages six weeks to two years. Children of all ages who wish to remain in the worship service are welcome to do so. Each Sunday, children participate in worship leadership as well. Our acolyte program prepares third through sixth graders to light the candles in the worship service, and older children are invited to read Scripture. Children’s Sunday, celebrated every year, features children leading worship.
Sunday School is held for children of all ages each Sunday morning at 9:45. The children’s Sunday School classrooms are on the south side of the lower level of the building – click the link for a map of the facility to see the various locations. Trained teachers will accompany the children on their journey through the Bible with our lectionary based curriculum Whirl. The children gather in the Children’s Commons for a large group lesson filled with singing, learning, laughter, and fun. Once they return to the classroom, our teachers have the opportunity to lead a small group discussion taking the children deeper into the topic. This curriculum is appealing to all learning styles.
