Small Groups
Small groups of Christians caring for one another, praying, studying and serving together are a foundation of Methodism. At Christ United Methodist Church, we offer a number of adult ministry opportunities and groups in which you can be involved, and we are working to develop more. Specific studies, such as Disciple Bible Study or Companions in Christ, typically begin in the fall and run through the school year. To find out more, please contact Rev. Mark Price or call the church office at 790-2112.
DISCIPLE Bible Studies
DISCIPLE is a long-term, high-commitment Bible study that covers the entire Bible. DISCIPLE studies include a 34-week foundational course and three additional 32-week courses that cover selected books from the Old and New Testaments. Although the studies may be taken in any order, participants should first complete the foundational course.
Companions in Christ
Companions in Christ is a small group curriculum that focuses on engaging in spiritual practices together. The courses are 28 weeks in length and are designed to make space for God to transform our lives so that together we might become the presence of Christ in the world.
Men’s Dialogue Group
Each Wednesday morning at 6:30 am, men gather at the church for coffee, a breakfast sandwich and a doughnut. Besides eating and drinking, they talk about…life. Topics vary from the day’s news, God, Jesus, football, values, politics, forgiveness, redemption, grace…all as it applies to them and their individual and collective life journeys.
Friday Morning Women’s Bible Study
This group meets from 10:00 to 11:30 am, and childcare is provided. Participants study the scriptures assigned in the lectionary for the following Sunday.
Latecomers Men’s Group
For those men who can’t make the 6:30 am Dialogue Group on Wednesdays, there is a later alternative! Join your friends for a cup of coffee, a sweet roll and good conversation each Friday at 8:00 am at Merridee’s Breadbasket in downtown Franklin.
Wednesday Night Bible Study
Each Wednesday night from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, our pastors lead an adult Bible study in Room 206. New participants are always welcome to join the study and the always stimulating discussions!
Wesley Fellowship Groups
Small groups (5-15) of people who commit to meet together on a regular basis for fellowship, accountability, prayer, study and outreach. The groups are led by church members and are designed to help their members form deep relationships with one another as they grow in faith together.
Dinner Groups
Social groups that meet about once a month during the spring and fall for a meal together. There is no agenda for the meeting other than getting to know one another and enjoying the company and food. Groups are flexible – some include children and some do not; some meet in homes and some in restaurants. Visit here for sign-ups!
Book Club
Join us on the third Sunday of each month at 4:00 pm at Panera in Cool Springs for discussion of the following books:
February 26 – The Art of Fielding by Chad Harback
March 25 – A Song I Knew by Heart by Bret Lott
April 22 – Forty Lives by Suzanne Johnson
May 20 – Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah
